Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Apparent Group Limited (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects information when you use the StampBrain mobile app (the “App”). By using StampBrain, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect the email address and display name you provide. If you continue with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile information those providers share with us — an email address, a name where you allow it, and a stable user identifier. We never receive your Google or Apple password.

Stamp photos and identification content

When you photograph a stamp, import one from your photo library, or use the backlit watermark mode, we process the image you captured or selected in order to identify the stamp. Identification results, and any stamp you choose to save, are stored against your account so your albums are available on any device you sign in to.

Collection data

The albums you create, the stamps you file into them, and your scan history are stored against your account.

Device and diagnostic information

We collect limited technical data — device model, operating system version, app version and language — so the App can render correctly and so we can diagnose faults.

What we do not collect

StampBrain does not display advertising and does not collect advertising identifiers. It does not request the Android Advertising ID (AAID) or Apple’s Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and it contains no advertising or attribution SDK. There is therefore no advertising profile to opt out of.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to: (a) provide the identification, watermark analysis, valuation and collection-tracking features; (b) authenticate your account, verify your email address and prevent abuse; (c) deliver the subscription benefits you have purchased; (d) send operational messages such as verification codes, password resets and billing notices; and (e) diagnose faults and improve accuracy.

3. Camera and photo library

StampBrain requests camera and photo-library access only after you tap a scan or import control. We access only the photo you capture or explicitly choose. We do not scan or monitor your photo library in the background. Images sent for identification, watermark analysis or photo enhancement are transmitted through our own cloud functions to the AI provider named in section 4, processed to produce a response, and are not retained by us after the response is returned unless you save the stamp to your collection.

4. Service providers

We do not sell your personal information. We share only what each provider needs to perform its function:

We may also disclose information where required by law or valid legal process, to protect the rights, property or safety of our users or ourselves, or in connection with a merger or sale of assets (with notice before any transfer).

5. Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your profile, saved stamps, albums and scan history within 30 days, except where we are required by law — for example tax records tied to subscription receipts — to retain certain records for longer. Images sent for identification are processed in memory and are not kept on our servers once the response has been returned, unless you saved the stamp.

6. Your choices and rights

You can review, correct or delete your account data from the in-app Settings screen, or by emailing hello@apparentgroup.co. Depending on where you live — for example the EU, the UK, California or Brazil — you may have additional rights, such as access, portability, objection to processing, withdrawal of consent, or lodging a complaint with your data-protection authority. Our legal bases for processing are performance of a contract (providing the App), legitimate interests (security and reliability), consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations. We respond to verified requests within the period required by applicable law.

7. Children’s privacy

StampBrain is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email hello@apparentgroup.co and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest through Firebase, and least-privilege server access. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; please use a strong, unique password and tell us immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised.

9. International transfers

StampBrain is operated from Hong Kong by Apparent Group Limited, and our providers operate globally. Your information may therefore be transferred across borders and stored in countries whose data-protection laws differ from those of your home country. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged in the App and the effective date above will be updated. Continued use of StampBrain after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.

11. Contact

Questions or requests about this Privacy Policy can be sent to hello@apparentgroup.co. We respond within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 7 business days, and within any shorter period required by applicable law.
